Handmade Arts & Crafts
The Taste of Stowe Arts Festival is anchored by the art/craft component of 110 craft designers and 44 two dimensional artists. The handmade crafts include traditional and contemporary creations in clay, paper, wood, metal, leather, glass, gold, silver, stones, cotton and more. The products range from scarves, jackets, wraps, hats, rugs, rings, earrings, and necklaces to mugs, pitchers, plates, vases, boxes, chairs, wine goblets, stained glass windows, fountains, furniture, and outdoor sculptures. Then there is the Art: painting, photography, prints, and sculpture. While much of the presented works are one of a kind, there are many pieces that are made in limited production runs, such as pottery pieces, numbered prints, and jewelry designs.
Weekend of Events
The Mystery Basket Competition (7/24)
Six identical baskets will be given to six “Celebrity” Stowe area chefs who will stage their own “Iron Chef” competition.
"Vermont Bounty" (7/24)
An array of Vermont specialty food products, ice cream, coffee, cheeses, meats, and other products available for sampling and sale.
Taste of Luxury (7/25)
Chef Michael Timms from the Topnotch Resort and Spa will select items for the luxury menu including a James Bond Oyster Bar, Oysters with Martini Honey ice, and lobster lollipops. Topnotch will showcase their award winning signature services, including the Mount Mansfield Saucha, Shiatsu Massage, Hammam Foot and Leg Ritual and the Little River Stone Massage at our outdoor spa casita. The therapists will ease tired muscles and soothe stressed limbs in an introduction to the ultimate spa experience available at Topnotch Resort. Festival attendees will receive valuable coupons for full treatments at the Topnotch Resort and Spa itself.
FREE Concert and Dance (7/25)
Concert and dance in the Village of Stowe at the Straw Corner Shops from 5:30-8:00PM and a theater performance of The Great American Trailer Park Musical.
Taste of Stowe (7/26)
A dozen restaurants and their chefs will serve two or three menu items in small sizes to allow for ample sampling and tasting. This is very popular with locals and tourists alike, allowing eager eaters a rare opportunity to relish the best menu choices in Stowe. Wine and beer pairings accompany the food.
During the Entire Weekend
Other food concessions will cater to those who are less adventurous foodies. A wine and beer bar will offer crafted artisan beers and wines selected for their summertime drinkability. Musical entertainment will be heard Saturday and Sunday.
KIDSZONE
While it seems to be an event for grownups, the Festival is very kid friendly. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont has sponsored the KIDSZONE. This year the Helen day Art Center will coordinate the activities with many art and craft related activities planned. To keep the culinary connection, children’s cooking classes will be offered.
